From Patchwork to a True Level 5 Finish
Holes, cracks, old repairs and water stains show through even the best paint. We repair drywall and sheetrock the right way: small holes are filled; larger damage is cut out and replaced, then taped, coated with compound, feathered out and sanded so the patch disappears into the wall.
When a wall has too many patches, visible seams or uneven texture, we skim coat it — applying thin layers of compound over the whole surface. A full skim coat, sanded smooth, is what the trade calls a Level 5 finish: the highest standard of drywall finishing, and the reference behind the name Lvl 5.
Once the surface is right, we prime and paint so the repair matches the rest of the room. Work areas are protected, and sanding dust is cleaned up when we finish.

Drywall finishes are graded from Level 0 to Level 5. Level 5 is the highest: after the joints and fasteners are taped and coated, a skim coat of compound is applied over the entire surface and sanded smooth, so no seams or patches show — even under strong light or with glossier paint.
When does a wall need skim coating?
Skim coating is the right call when a wall has many patches, visible seams, cracks, leftover texture or wallpaper damage, or when you want a perfectly smooth surface for a darker color, a glossier sheen or strong side lighting.
Do you paint after the repair?
Yes. We prime the repaired area and paint it to match. For the most uniform result we often recommend painting the full wall from corner to corner.
